GMU Students Hit the Water in 2020 Class Yachts
This past weekend, participants of the Yacht Boating License course run by the Gdynia Maritime University’s Sailing and Water Sports Centre had the opportunity to undergo training on modern 2020 type yachts. The outing was made possible thanks to the generosity of the sponsor of the new type of yacht - the Pomeranian Sailing Association – Gdynia manufacturer PRO-AIR, and the Polish 2020 Class Association.
2020 class yachts are sports and recreation vessels of an innovative design that entered the yachting market last year in 2020, and hence their name. The yachts are aimed at beginners in the world of sailing, recreational yachters, as well as those who associate yachting with regattas, competition and achievement.
Thanks to cooperation with the Pomeranian Sailing Association, there is great potential for our University to get involved in the 2020 Class Association and the development of a calendar of sporting events for the year 2022. This would give GMU students and staff the chance to take part in training courses and sailing regattas.
