The first-ever Best Teacher Award awarded by Gdynia Maritime University, named the Konstanty Matyjewicz-Maciejewicz Award after the postwar State Maritime School director and “Captain of Captains”, has been granted to Józef Lisowski, 3 times Rector during the years 1990-1993, 1993-1996 and 2002-2008.

The award was handed over by HM Rector Professor Adam Weintrit. The recipient of the Konstanty Matyjewicz-Maciejewicz Award for the Best Teacher is chosen by the Rector based on nominations by the Student Council.

Professor Józef Lisowski was unable to attend the ceremonial sitting of the Senate on University Celebration Day to receive the award, which was presented to him on 14th December.
