GMU Visits Port Gdansk

On 23rd March 2022, GMU representatives were welcomed to the head office of the seaport in Gdansk, the largest maritime port in Poland and the busiest container terminal on the Baltic sea. 

The meeting between academic and business representatives focused on the presentation of the port’s activity as well as discussion on the opportunities for the development of the current Onshore Power Supply system.

In attendance at the meeting from GMU were:

Professor  Krzysztof Górecki – Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering

Dr Magdalena Kukowska-Kaszuba - Head Specialist for Technology Transfer and Business Cooperation

Dr Karol Listewnik – representative of the Department of Ship Power Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering,

Dr Kalina Detka - representative of the Department of Maritime Electronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, 

Dr Jan Iwaszkiewicz  - representative of the Department of Ship Automation at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering,

And from ZMPG: 

Lech Paszkowski - Director of the Department of Development and Investment,

Karol Ochendowski - Deputy Director of the Department of Development and Investment,

Aleksandra Cilińdź - Head of the Development Team,

Paulina Chroboczek -  Environmental Protection Specialist,

Karol Gąsiorowski - Development Specialist, and

Arkadiusz Sojko - Leader of the Team for Electrical Energy.

During the meeting, GMU experts and ZMPG staff discussed the interests of the two parties. The exchange of observations and experiences between representatives of science and business will contribute to a better understanding of the needs and identify perspectives for joint action, which in the future will allow for better alignment of the proposed solutions. The talks focused on the opportunity to conduct joint initiatives and carry out research and development projects in the future.

Port Gdansk is focused on continual development and strengthening of its position in the market, which it aims to achieve through investments in the construction and modernisation of its hydrotechnical, railroad and road infrastructure. The University has a lot to offer in terms of its scientific capabilities based on extensive experience in providing opinions and analyses on installation and electrical equipment requirements, the development of the port market, tourist traffic, inland shipping, port infrastructure, and legal regulations and maritime traffic forecasts. The competencies of the two parties hold promise for a longstanding and fruitful collaboration.
