Rector of Bulgarian Naval Academy Visits GMU
Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, together with the Director of the Ship Management Office, Professor Bogumił Łączyński, met with the rector of the Bulgarian Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Fleet Admiral Professor Boyanem Mednikarov, on Friday, 26th November 2021 at Gdynia Maritime University.
The meeting, hosted by Professor Weintrit, was held to discuss a joint international project concerning the cruise of the Dar Młodzieży on the Black Sea to Batumi, in which a group of IAMU members would participate, as well as the frigate's trip to Varna in September 2022.
The occasion followed the previous meeting between representatives of the Universities in Bulgaria in September 2021 during which the GMU Rector drew attention to the cooperation between the two education institutions as part of the International Association of Maritime Universities and the TransNav International Conference on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation held biannually in Gdynia and organised by the GMU Faculty of Navigation together with The Nautical Institute.
During the visit of Professor Mednikarova to GMU, the rectors also discussed areas of cooperation to be formally agreed upon between universities and the Bulgarian Academy's participation in Gdynia Maritime University Celebration Day in June 2022 and the 40th anniversary of the Dar Młodzieży in June / July 2022.
