Gdynia Maritime University Enters into cooperation with Dalian Maritime University
Gdynia Maritime University and Dalian Maritime University have concluded a memorandum of understanding. The document was signed by the Rectors of both universities in Gdynia.
The Chinese University is one of the largest maritime universities in the world, with more than 25,000 students enrolled on its courses. Located on the coast of the Yellow Sea, Dalian has a population of some 4 million and is one of the largest ports in the world. The agreement was signed by the Rectors of the two Universities, Professor Adam Weintrit and Professor Sun Yuqing.
The agreement signed today with the Dalian Maritime University opens up new possibilities before Gdynia Maritime University, just as the cooperation agreement that we signed with Shanghai Maritime University 40 years ago opened the way for our University to cooperate widely with the Far East for many decades" - commented Professor Adam Weintrit, HM Rector of Gdynia Maritime University. Adam Weintrit.
Cooperation with Dalian Maritime University offers several benefits for the University, including student exchanges, staff exchanges, joint research projects and scientific activities.
We have offered Dalian Maritime University the opportunity to take part in our 100th Anniversary Voyage Across the Equator, and the President of Dalian Maritime University, Professor Sun Yuging has confirmed that at least three students from China will join us on board the "Dar Młodzieży" for the voyage. Students from China will also join a new degree programme to be offered in English in the Faculty of Marine Engineering in the new academic year. In the longer term, we hope that GMU students will go to China to study in Dalian, as they did as a result of our cooperation with Shanghai Maritime University." - added Professor Adam Weintrit.
Dalian University is the 27th foreign university with which Gdynia Maritime University will undertake cooperation. Collaboration with the Chinese University meets the assumptions of the Rector for the next two years in connection with the internationalisation of the University and the extension of the University's on an international scale.
