KRASP Gathers for Plenary Assembly in Lodz
On 26 and 27 October 2023, the KRASP - Conference of Academic Schools in Poland - Plenary Assembly took place in Lodz. The two-day session was attended by the Rector Professor Adam Weintrit.
The first day of the assembly was held at the University of Lodz, with the second day taking place at the Lodz University of Technology. One of the key topics discussed was the "Problems of Higher Education and Science in Poland."
The Plenary Assembly of the Polish Academy of Sciences unanimously adopted a resolution on the place of education and higher education in Poland. The resolution calls for the creation of a strong, separate Ministry responsible for Science and Higher Education.
The Rectors discussed the future presidency of Poland in the EU Council, the conclusions of a report entitled "Science and Higher Education and GDP", the current problems and the future of higher education, and the coordination of support for Ukraine. A guest at the Assembly was Wojciech Murdzek - Deputy Minister of the Ministry for Education and Science.
As part of the event, the Elsevier Polska Statue was presented to universities that have contributed to the improved recognition of Polish science at a Gala held at the Grażyna and Kiestuta Bacewicz Academy of Music. During the second day at the University of Technology, certificates of excellence were also presented to the Polish Accreditation Commission for a number of courses.
The members of KRASP are the rectors of the 109 Polish Universities. A further 8 universities have the status of associate members. The Chair of the Conference is the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, Professor Arkadiusz Mężyk.
