Maritime Industry Forum Held in Gdynia

Gdynia hosted the 22nd edition of the Maritime Industry Forum, the biggest event in the country for maritime industry specialists.

In attendance at the Forum as a guest was GMU Rector Professor Adam Weintrit. The Rector of Gdynia Maritime University took part in a panel entitled "Renewal energy - the prospects and challenges of offshore wind energy." 

Participants in the panel discussed the prospects and challenges of ensuring the country's energy independence, including cheaper electricity, economic growth, regional development, the education of personnel and new places. Also taking part in the debate were: Jakub Budzyński, (Vice President of the Polish Academy of Applied Sciences), Grzegorz Chodkowski, (Vice President of Offshore Development Poland, RWE Renewables), Dr Tomasz Kalinowski (Professor of the Sopot Academy of Applied Sciences), Kacper Kostrzewa, (Director of the BC-Wind Project), Paweł Mawduk, (Offshore Wind - Supply Chain Project Manager, Polenergia), Agata Staniewska-Bolesta, (Managing Director of Offshore Poland, Ørsted Polska), and Marcin Wiśniewski, (Director for Regulatory and Resolutions, Equinor, Poland). The moderator of the panel was Andrzej Popadiuk (Stakeholder Manager, Eqinor Polska), the chair of the Gdynia Maritime Industry Forum 2023.

Taking part in the Maritime Industry Forum as guests, as well as speakers, were many Gdynia Maritime University staff members.

A seminar entitled "Cyber Security in the maritime industry - challenges and threats in 2023" was chaired by Rafał Cichocki, Head of the Centre for Maritime Cybersecurity at the Faculty of Navigation. Professor Andrzej Grzelakowski, Head of the Department of Logistics and Transport Systems at the Faculty of Management and Quality Science, moderated a panel entitled "Logistics in the Face of New Global and Regional Challenges in the Current Decade”.

The Chair of the Forum was a member of the University Council, Sławomir Kalicki - Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Malta in Gdynia. Honorary guests included the ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Poland, Anna Clunes, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Poland, Øystein Bø, and Admiral Rex Cox, director of the National Ship Building Office in Great Britain.
