Festive Celebrations at GMU
On 21 December 2023, a celebration in anticipation of the Christmas Season and the approaching New Year was held in the T. Meissner Hall. The event was attended by the Gdynia Maritime University academic community with the University authorities, former Rectors, members of the Senate and the University Council all present. Also attending were representatives of Faculty authorities, the Maritime Institute, directors, heads of departments and sections, the captain of the “Dar Młodzieży” as well as members of the Student Parliament.
HM the Rector of Gdynia Maritime University, Professor Adam Weintrit, wished everyone a happy Christmas, followed by Joanna Zielińska, the Chair of the University Council, and Oskar Łebkowski, the deputy president of the Student Parliament.
Father Edward Pracz, the Maritime University chaplain, encouraged those gathered to reflect on the nature of Christmas as heard in the fragment of the Gospel read by Dr Marcin Frycz.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share the traditional Polish Christmas wafer accompanied by heartwarming wishes and the angelic tones of traditional Christmas carols performed by the Gdynia Maritime University Academic choir conducted by Dr Karol Hilla.
