GMU Doctoral School Now Accepting Applications
From 26 to 30 August, Gdynia Maritime University will be accepting applications to study at its Doctoral School for the academic year 2024/2025. Candidates may apply to study at doctoral level in one of four academic disciplines.
The GMU Doctoral School was founded on 1st October 2019 and currently educates doctoral candidates in Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Space Technologies; Management and Quality Studies; Earth and Related Environmental Sciences; and Civil Engineering, Geodesy, and Transport.
Applicants require a master's degree or equivalent to apply. Studies undertaken at the Doctoral School are on a full-time basis and are there no tuition fees. In accordance with the Act on Higher Education and Science, each doctoral candidate is entitled to a scholarship in the amount of 37% of a professor's monthly salary (PLN 3,466.90 gross), which is subject to a mid-term evaluation two years into the doctoral programme, and 57% of a professor's monthly salary (PLN 5,340.90 gross), after obtaining a positive assessment result.
There are currently 14 places available at the GMU Doctoral School. Potential candidates are required to gain agreement for support from a doctoral supervisor connected to the academic area in which they wish to complete a doctorate.
Last year, the GMU Doctoral School's first three doctoral candidates completed their doctoral studies with the submission of a thesis. All candidates successfully completed their planned programmes of study and were awarded doctoral degrees – commented Dr Aneta Ocieczek, Director of the GMU Doctoral School. We're currently awaiting the submission of theses by the subsequent year of doctoral candidates and I am convinced that these will also be successful in gaining doctoral degrees.
