GMU Sailing and Watersports Centre Delivers Four-Day Pilot Training Course
The GMU Sailing and Watersports Centre delivered a four-day pilot training course for crew members of vessels with an auxiliary wind drive. The course took place in Gdynia, from 16 until 20 September, at the request of the Norwegian companies, Sea-Cargo AS and Stödig Ship Management. Attending the course was an international group of Philippine, Polish, and Norwegian captains who command vessels equipped with Flettner rotors.
The organisation of the training posed a great challenge. It was an inspirational task, and yet the first of its kind, as the Centre has never before organised this type of training. Everyone was thrown into the deep end, but the effort resulted in great success. The participants found the skills presented to be very useful and were convinced they would find opportunities for the practical application of the knowledge acquired on the theory of sailing, utilisation of wind power and its influence on the vessel in the future. Many thanks to all those who took part in the training!
