Minister of Science Sends Letter in Connection with Polish Science Day
On the occasion of Polish Science Day, the Minister of Science, Dariusz Wieczorek, addressed a letter to members of the science and higher education community. In the letter, the Minister extends his congratulations for achievements in research, teaching, implementation, and organisation.
On the occasion of Polish Science Day, I would like to convey to all of you my highest appreciation. [...] I am delighted with your passion for science, extensive knowledge, and outstanding skills that lead to breakthrough discoveries, pioneering theories and innovative inventions.
He also outlined the priorities and objectives of his work as the Minister of Science:
I would like my mission as the Minister of Science to be recognised for its lively dialogue with the scientific and academic community. Therefore, I am very interested in hearing your opinions, suggestions and propositions for change. I am convinced that our cooperation will lead to definitive solutions that will improve the system for science and higher education and will increase the renown of Polish science on the international stage.
Addressing students, the Minister wrote:
I encourage the activity of student parliaments, however, I would like to reassure you all that one of the key activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education is the creation of the best conditions for young people to gain knowledge and develop professionally in Poland.
Minister Wieczorek highlighted increased cooperation between science and business as one of his goals:
I consider this form of cooperation necessary to increase the level of innovation and economic growth of our country.
Polish Science Day commemorates the achievements of Polish researchers and inventors. The date of the holiday, 19th February, is connected with the anniversary of the birth of Nicolas Copernicus.
