Women On Board Dar Młodzieży
During the historic voyage commemorating the 100th anniversary of the crossing of the equator by the tall ship Lwów, one in four crew members on board the Dar Młodzieży was a woman. The University's sail training ship, which is currently in the Atlantic on its return journey to Gdynia, has 30 female crew members on board.
Women are increasingly taking up more roles within the maritime industry - further evidence that they have already entered most "male" professions.
Among 3900 students registered on degree programmes and courses at GMU, 1096 of them are female. One in three students in the Faculty of Navigation and 60% of students in the Faculty of Management and Quality Science are women. Female students in the minority in the Faculties of mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
