GMU Joins in Celebrations for The Maritime Festival
Once again, Gdynia Maritime University has played its part in celebrations on the occasion of The Maritime Festival (Święto Morza). On Tuesday, 24 June 2025, from 10:00 to 14:00, GMU held showings at its Planetarium at the Faculty of Navigation. The showings were attended by more than 180 people.
The Maritime Festival was organised for the first time in Gdynia 93 years ago. Back then, in celebration of the seamen, port workers, sailors, fishermen, shipyard workers and other people associated with the sea, as many as 100,000 people from all over the country came to the city. In 2013, the event was resumed and has been given a permanent place in Gdynia’s calendar of events.
This year, there are several attractions planned for the residents of Gdynia and tourists, taking place in various locations around the city, including meetings with experts, sports competitions, workshops, lectures and film screenings. The festivities began on 20 June and will last until Sunday, 29 June 2025.
