GMU Officials Take Part in Programme Team Inauguration Meeting

In connection with Poland assuming the presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States as of 1 July 2025, a consultative meeting entitled 'Coastal Voivodeships in the Face of Energy Challenges and Priorities of the Polish Presidency in the CBSS' was held on 12 August at the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. During the meeting, the decision was made to appoint a Programme Team for the Implementation of Activities Supporting the Priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States. HM The Rector of GMU, Professor Adam Weintrit, was invited to join the team.

The inauguration meeting was held on 10 September 2025, at the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office. Among those invited to contribute to the team's work are central and regional government representatives and city officials. Joining them are representatives from the world of science and the energy industry. The most important tasks of the Programme Team for the Implementation of Activities Supporting the Priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States are: the energy transition and energy security, critical infrastructure security, improvement of the quality of Baltic Sea waters, decarbonisation of Baltic seaports and maritime transport, as well as technological innovations for the green transition.

Poland's assumption of the presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States is a pivotal moment in Pomerania's long-term development strategy in relation to the Baltic region, Europe, and the world. The council's members include Baltic countries, Scandinavian countries, Poland, Germany, and the European Commission.
