The "Innovative Centre of Integrated Marine Environment Research Laboratories for the Offshore Industry," the Gdynia Maritime University project, under which the Centre for the Offshore Industry was built, has been nominated for a "Pomeranian Storms" Award in the category of "Infrastructure Projects." Voting is open from 28 February until 17 March at www.pomorskiesztormy.pl
Pomorskie Sztormy is an awards poll co-organised by the Pomeranian Marshal's Office in collaboration with Gazeta Wyborcza Tricity. The 20th edition of the event has just begun. The initiative awards the most successful individuals, institutions, and companies in various areas of activity over the past year.
Statuettes are awarded to the winners in 10 categories: Culture, Sport, Urban, Ecology, Culinary, European Infrastructure, European Human Capital, Civic, Science, and Business. Five persons, institutions, teams, or businesses received nominations in each category.
This year, the event organisers want to place special emphasis on projects that bring real benefits to the residents of Pomerania and have been carried out thanks to European Funds:
As every year, I warmly encourage you to vote in Gazeta Wyborcza's poll. Pomorskie Sztormy consistently showcases how vision, passion, and hard work transform our surroundings. We are eager to recognise both large and smaller investments, as well as the individuals behind these successful projects. I especially encourage you to vote in the European Storm category, which honours ideas in infrastructure and human capital that bring tangible benefits to the residents of Pomerania - said the Marshal of Pomerania, Mieczysław Struk to Gazeta Wyborcza.
Our University project - "Innovative Centre of Integrated Marine Environment Research Laboratories for the Offshore Industry" - was nominated in the category of "Infrastructure Projects".
As part of the project, GMU built the Centre for the Offshore Industry, which was officially opened exactly 1 year ago on 29 February. The Centre for the Offshore Industry is the headquarters of the GMU Maritime Institute. Here, in modern, accredited laboratories, comprehensive studies, measurements, and more are carried out to obtain information on the state of the marine environment and its resources. This information is essential to the fuel market, shipbuilding, offshore wind energy, and maritime transport.
The winners of the awards poll will be announced on 26 March during a ceremonial gala in Gdańsk.
