Minister of Science and Higher Education Sends Letter in Connection with Polish Science Day

Polish Science Day, celebrated since 2020, commemorates the achievements of Polish researchers and inventors. Today’s holiday is connected with one of the most eminent figures in the history of science, Nicolas Copernicus, author of De revolutionibus orbium coelestium [On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres] which revolutionised the world of science. The date of the holiday, 19th February - the anniversary of the birth of the Polish astronomist - was chosen in recognition of his contributions not only to astronomy but also to law, medicine, and cartography.

On the occasion of Polish Science Day, the Minister of Science, Marcin Kulaszek, addressed a letter to members of the science and higher education community in which he expressed his thanks for the community’s dedication and input in the development of science and his appreciation for achievements in research, teaching, and implementation.

It is with great joy that I take part in this exceptional celebration, which is an opportunity to express my highest appreciation for the achievements of Polish researchers and inventors. I am also full of admiration for the daily efforts and involvement involved in teaching and organisational activities. I would like to thank you for your work in the popularisation of science and for bringing complex and sometimes hermetic content to a wide range of audiences.

The scientific work of Gdynia Maritime University includes teaching and research, as well as the popularisation of science, an example of which is the project entitled Scholarly Evenings with Gdynia Maritime University – a cycle of open lectures aimed at the residents of Tricity and the surrounding area.
