Scholarly Evenings with Gdynia Maritime University – 12 March 2025
On 12 March 2025, GMU will hold another lecture as part of its Scholarly Evenings with Gdynia Maritime University.
The topic of this week’s popular science lecture will be "Modern Materials in Competitive Sports (F1 Moto GP, WRC, sailing, skiing)”.
The lecture will cover the application of modern fibre-reinforced composites, including carbon and aramid (Kevlar) fibres, primarily in the world of motorsports. Information will be presented on high-performance constructions in F1, MotoGP, and WRC, where these composites are commonly used. The lecture will conclude with a maritime touch, exploring the use of carbon and Kevlar in yacht construction.
Speaking this week will be Dr Krzysztof Dudzik, an associate professor in the Marine Materials and Overhaul Technology Department.
Following the lecture, participants are invited for refreshments where there will be the chance to discuss the topic with the speaker.

Entry is free of charge and open to all (the lecture will be given in Polish only)
The Scholarly Evenings with Gdynia Maritime University initiative includes 20 lectures presented by experienced academic lecturers affiliated with GMU held on average twice a month (every second Wednesday at 18:00) at the University’s Faculty of Navigation. Lectures are open to the public and entry is free of charge.
