During the years 2004-2010, language teaching staff took part in the MarEng and MarEng+ project, which aimed to create an online language tool for learning maritime English. All materials are based on the type of language used in real-life situations onboard ships, in ports, and at shipping companies. MarEng and MarEng PLUS were developed for English teachers and students of maritime English, as well as those working in the maritime industry. The materials aim to improve the competence of persons working in various maritime professions in Europe in maritime English. Available free of charge, the materials were developed as part of the EU-funded “MarEng” and “MarEng PLUS” projects.
