First RPG session at the Maritime University Library
On December 12th 2024 first RPG session took place in the Main Library’s Conference room. It was organized by the Library staff member – Michał Gosk, in a collaboration with the ambassador of the Tricity RPG group Mind full of adventures – Michał Kukiełka (gamemaster). The game was inspired by the Lord of the Rings universe.
Geoguessr Competition
Geoguessr Competition took place on November 19th 2024 at the Library Student’s Loungeroom. It was organized by the Library staff member – Bartłomiej Wójcik. Geoguessr is a geography game in which players must deduce locations from Google Street View imagery. Winners received giftbags for their participation.

The Library Directors of Polish Academic School Conference
On June 6th and 7th 2024 the Library’s director - Joanna Krzywonos PhD, participated in the Library Directors of Polish Academic Schools Conference, which took place at the Czestochowa University of Technology.
The main discussion were complex issues of modern librarianship and problems surrounding academic libraries.

Professional meetings in the Main Library
From May 20th to May 24th 2024 the Library hosted the Library staff members from the Catholic University in Rużomberk. The meeting was a part of the Erasmus+ program. The guests were able to get to know the Gdynia Maritime University’s profile and offer.
On May 28th the Library hosted a delegation of the Gdynia Public Library. The main topic of the discussion was new library system Alma / Primo.

The summation of implementation of the new library system ALMA with a search tool PRIMO – a seminary
On March 15th 2024 a seminary took place in the Main Library. The main topic of the discussion was putting the new Alma system into action at the Maritime University Library, the Gdańsk University of technology, the Gdańsk Medical University and the European Solidarity Centre.
The Library staff members also participated (from the UMG Main Library – H. Benkowska, I. Klejna, W. Kowalewska, J. Krzywonos PhD, D. Terech). Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Ex Libris company employees also took part in the discussion.
The Maritime University Library with the most advanced library system
On November 23rd 2023 the new system Alma and multi search tool Primo were introduced to our readers. The Library collections are now visible on the National Library catalogue. Accessing the Maritime University Library’s traditional and digital resources became easier. Our Library staff participated in special training prepared by the National Library.
Important information:
On June 19th 2023 the National Library and the Maritime University Library signed a collaboration contract. Because of that, these two institutions are going to work together on the library network zone. The main reason is the unification of the cataloguing rules and making the library collections available on the National Library catalogue, shared with many other libraries. Our Library staff will learn about the newest Alma system and go through the training prepared by the National Library.
